| Welcome
to Tappan Zee Marina's website!
Piermont
is the home to Tappan Zee Marina. The area is only 12 miles north of the
George Washington Bridge along the west shore of the Hudson River with
boating access to the Long Island Sound, the Atlantic Ocean and the far
reaches of the Upper Hudson River. Tappan Zee Marina was built in the
1960’s and was bought by the Maffei Family in the 1970s.
The Marina is nestled
at the foot of the Palisades Ridge just south of the Nyacks, between Grandview
and the quaint Village of Piermont. It’s within walking distance
of the Village that is dotted with many restaurants, shops and art galleries.
The
area was first settled in 1785 and named Tappan Landing, as it was the
first entry port in that region. In 1839, the Eerie Railroad Company changed
the name to Piermont. It was created from its geographic surroundings:
the lengthy pier was erected by the railroad company and the mountainous
hills hugging the town.
